This makes my heart hurt....

Rick, from Rick and Bubba, lost his 2 year old son this weekend. He accidentally drowned in their pool. How incredibly horrible...I can't even imagine what this family is going through.

We ask that you bathe Rick, Sherri, and the entire Burgess family in prayer as they deal with the loss of their youngest son, Bronner Burgess. We all are grieving together in this terrible loss.

The Burgess's want to give all Honor and Glory to GOD for the many blessings He has given us, especially the life of Bronner Burgess. And while we do not understand, we know who is in charge and His will be done in life and in death.

My aunt, who is always in the know, gave me the full scoop. So, so, sad....

The Shelby County Sheriff's dept. rec'd the 911 call @ 7:24 Saturday night. Rick was speaking in Pigeon Forge at a Scott Dawson youth conference.

Sherri and the 3 boys had been out playing in
the snow. She brought the boys in, put a movie in (like she's done a million times), then took a shower. Got out of the shower then couldn't locate Bronner. She found an open door, then went outside to find him in the pool. She called their next door neighbor (who's a Dr), then 911....could have been the other way around...not sure. Anyway, the Dr. performed CPR, 911 arrived and took him to Children's where he was pronounced dead. They frantically tried to reach Rick during his speaking engagement, who rec'd several calls on his cell from home, and finally decided to answer. Some friends of Rick/Bubba flew their private plane to Pigeon Forge to bring Rick back to B'ham.

Bubba, Speedy, and a friend from Rick's Sunday school class picked Rick up from the airport to take him to the hospital (at this point, he knew Bronner had died....he was meeting Sherri there). Bubba said they pretty much had a praise/worship session
in the car, on the way to the hospital. When they arrived, Bubba said he'll never forget what Rick said as he was exiting the car........"it is well with my soul". He said that he's prepared to do the hardest thing he's had to do in his entire life. Bubba said that Rick has truly risen to the occasion. He said that Rick isn't worried about himself, but is extremely worried about Sherri. He wants everyone to pray that the devil
won't destroy another life (Sherri's).

They played Kevin Derryberry's song "Jesus Wept", after Bubba prayed his tear-jerking awesome prayer this AM on the air around 6:30. Whew!

They said they're not sure when Rick will be back.....maybe the end of this week or next, or even longer. I think they may do re-plays the rest of the week. But who knows......

Also, Bronner would have turned 3 in May.

I've got to say that it sounds like Rick is handling this way better than I could have. This family is definitely going to be in my prayers for a while....shame.
