So much cool stuff has been happening with HOME, it's just amazing! You won't believe the crazy coincidences that have happened...I think Someone is listening in on our conversations.
First, about two weeks ago, Sis. L and I were driving back from a visit to the property and we were just talking about the project. We started brainstorming on promotional ideas...videos (see below), brochures, etc. I mentioned in passing that I really thought this type of project (orphanage, child sponsorship) would really connect well with the California district. It seems like something that would be a good fit for the CA mindset and I know from working at NBI that churches there are generally not well connected with UPCI ministries. We just kept on talking...no big deal.
That night, Sis. L happened to receive an email from Bro. Brad. He wrote saying that he had received a phone call that day from a pastor in CA. The pastor was so excited to hear about the HOME project. His church wants to sponsor 3 of the houses and a few members will be here in Sept with a work group! He even mentioned to Bro. Brad that they aren't well connected with other ministries so they were super excited about this one! Hmmm....sound familiar? =)
Then, that Thursday, I worked to complete the little HOME video (you'd think making that video would be simple but not with my limited skills...wow! I definitely need to take a movie making class!). After I put the finishing touches on it, I called Sis. L and told her to come over to see it. She loved it! She had just walked back home when her phone rang. It was her supervisors at headquarters..they only knew a little about the HOME project but had just shared their limited knowledge with a pastor in OH. The pastor asked if there was any way they could show a video on the project! He even said, "One with pictures of kids would be awesome!" Talk about working just one step ahead!
These coincidences are just too cool! And they serve as a great reminder that God is totally behind this project. It's such a God thing!
Next up, a longer video with the mission and vision of HOME and a brochure. I'm putting my marketing degree to work with this project. It's just too exciting not to have stuff to share the mission/vision!
Now, for a HOME update...
Three walls are now complete! The plans have been finalized. Next, they are submitted to the government...and once we pay our 1% of the total building cost tax, we can begin working on the other buildings! Construction on the main front wall is next...this will be quite a project! Check out the drawings from the architect...can't you just see it?!
There will be a main entrance, a utility entrance (for water, food delivery, etc), and the far right will be a construction entrance.

We have several work groups coming before the end of the year...they will begin building the administrative office! Wooohooo! It's becoming a reality!
