H.O.M.E. Progress!

2013 has been a busy, busy year for H.O.M.E. already! We had three construction teams back-to-back and the progress is amazing!

First, a group of 25 men from Florida and Canada came down to put a roof on our first house...the Florida House! Doesn't it look awesome?

What a fabulous group too! With a group this big, there's lots of opportunity for squabbles and disagreements but these guys worked together to accomplish their goal. Loved having them here!

One of the older men on the trip was aghast that I didn't have a hat on in the blazing sun so he gifted me this beauty.

The same day that the guys from FL left, men from LA started arriving. LA Men on a Mission sent two groups down to work on the admin building. The first group put the roof on and the second group finished the ceiling inside.

The guys had a big machine (Skytrack?) to lift the big beams. The machine came with it's own driver. Apparently, there is a universal sign language for people that work those machines so they know "raise it a little" and "lower it slowly" and all of that stuff. Well, it would appear that language didn't make it to Guatemala. The American guys were using the proper signs and speaking in English. The driver doesn't speak English nor understand the signs.... you can imagine how hairy it was for the first day! Whew!

Lunch crew!

The orphanage definitely isn't in the city! I took this right outside our property.
It's hard work walking around in rubber boots and taking pictures all day. ..ha!

Roof going on and the locals are finishing the main entrance arch.
The best AIM team ever!

This is the last picture I took...apparently I didn't get a photo of the completed project but know it looks great!
We're so grateful for these men...they invested their time, money, and vacation days into our project. Thank you for believing in the mission of H.O.M.E.!

How awesome is this ceiling? The team did a fabulous job with the tongue and groove!

The fun is just starting! In addition to having the FL house up, the Admin Building up, and the front wall nearly finished, we have these 2 houses in the works! A third is going up right after these. Isn't the progress amazing?

Isn't it exciting to see how God works? It's been less than a year since they purchased this property and look how far it's come! In addition to these projects, the existing building has been completely remodeled, an external wall has been built around the property, and the pump house has gotten a makeover. All because of the generosity of sponsors... amazing!
