Things around the orphanage have been very dangerous over the last few weeks. First, the director, a missionary with another organization, of a children's home near ours was shot 5 times as he was leaving their property. Thankfully, God kept His hand on him. However, it served as a reminder of how dangerous things are here in Guatemala.
Second, there have been 2 cars driving by our property several times a week. They park in the entrance, scope out the workers, equipment, etc. This all started right after our last group of Americans was here so we think they are waiting on the next group of "gringos."
Third, Luke, one of my fellow AIMers, has had a few scares in that area during the past week. Someone tried to give him trouble at a gas station one day. Another, he had a close call with the two cars above.
Fourth, someone stole our little puppies...Snoopy and Spike. =(
So, as you can see, we really need a wall.
You never do anything in Guatemala without a wall. Unfortunately for us, we haven't had any funds for this project. Since H.O.M.E. is just getting started, we don't have much of a general fund established. Thankfully, everyone has gotten on board with sponsoring specific projects....but that leaves us a little like sitting ducks. Construction projects without the protection of wall.
How you can help:
Donate at www.SupportHOMEInternational.com. Any amount helps! Donate in honor of someone (cough: me) for Christmas. Take it on as a Christmas charity project for your Sunday School class/youth group. Just donate. All donations are 100% tax-deductible so it's great for those of you needing to give for a tax-break before the end of the year.
Spread the word. By talking about the need, sharing it on your facebook/twitter, you can help us get the word out. If everyone gives a little, this wall will be built in no time.
Pray for the safety of our workers. We need guardian angels around the property!
Together, we can build a wall!
